Many of the customer's older machines relied on leadscrew dials — slow to read and inconsistent. The project fitted GR-I encoders and DM-8000 three-axis readouts to 37 machines.
Operators now read coordinates directly, and with linear error compensation positioning accuracy improved from ±0.05 mm to ±0.01 mm. Each retrofit took about six hours, all completed inside weekend downtime windows without disturbing production schedules.
